Neighbourhood Plan – Public Referendum on March 24th, 2016

On February 5th, Cheshire East's Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning signed a Decision that the Audlem Neighbourhood Plan (ANP) should go to formal referendum so that Audlem residents can vote on the plan.

This is the final stage of a journey that commenced at the Audlem Parish Council Extraordinary Meeting held on Thursday 10 July 2014, at which there was almost unanimous public support for developing a Neighbourhood Plan.

The date for the referendum has been provisionally set for Thursday March 24th and will be held in the Public Hall. Residents will be asked a set question:  "Do you want Cheshire East Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Audlem to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?", to which they are required to give a simple 'Yes' or 'No' answer.

It is vitally important that residents turn out and show their support for the ANP – if over 50% of those who vote agree, then the Plan will then be recommended for formal acceptance by Cheshire East Council when it finally becomes a legally recognised Statutory Planning Document that should provide Audlem's residents a more robust platform with which to resist inappropriate housing developments.

Further information will be publicised soon regarding the referendum.
