The Shroppie Fly closed on New Year's Day and we understand that work on a refurbishment will begin on or around 15th January.

No news as yet about whether Punch Taverns have found a new licensee to take on a lease but we will be asking the company for regular updates.

The Shroppie Fly is, of course, an important feature in attracting tourists to the village and is well known to narrow boat users on the canal. Punch Taverns confirmed in a statement to AudlemOnline last month that the Shroppie will remain a 'traditional pub' rather than becoming a restaurant.
