Healthy Week Happenings in School!

Our special 'Healthy Week' in school has provided a wonderful array of learning opportunities to all classes this week.

The week began with a great turnout for our shared Active Audlem session before school on Monday. Despite torrential rain and thunder earlier in the morning, many parents, children and staff clocked up more laps on our circuit.

Some children also took part in an impromptu mini aerobics session with Mrs Stoker and Mrs Heathcock at the edge of the field!

Each class took part in a special Life Education session in the mobile classroom that visited school on Tuesday. The sessions covered topics such as how our brain works, friendships and how wonderful it is to be ourselves! Many thanks to FASA for supporting this experience, enabling us to reduced the donation per child by contributing to the overall cost.

Our oldest children in school have had several safety talks this week lead by Cheshire
Fire and Rescue Service. These sessions covered Fire Safety and Road Safety and recapped
important messages for them all. Our visitors were impressed with our children's answers
and attention during the sessions.

PCSO Nick Jarvis worked with each class on Wednesday, reminding children of the importance of being safe and healthy. The children took part in question and answer sessions and used interactive resources to problem solve what they would need to do to 'keep safe' in a variety of scenarios.

Children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 took part in some exciting sessions with Mrs Satchithananda earlier in the week where they learnt about first aid and what to do in an emergency. Some of the children even had chance to try their had at first aid on dolls and Mrs Spooner!

Sports

How wonderful it was to share our Sports Day together in the sunshine – what a difference in the weather from last year! It was great to see so many people from home cheering all of the children on and the children competing so well and so enthusiastically. Well done to Rowan team for coming 1st overall.

Thanks also to Mr Griffiths for organising the event, the volunteers who helped with scoring and place giving and to the FASA volunteers who provided refreshments and the much needed ice lollies for the competitors!

Our Kwik Cricket team took part in a tournament at Nantwich Cricket Ground yesterday. They played well winning one match and losing two. Thanks to Mr Griffiths for organising this and to all of the parents and relatives who went along to support the team.

Cottrell and Riley Capewell have successfully completed 20k and Maddison Matravers, Tess Crowley and Annie Lowe have achieved 30k. Well done!

FASA

FASA's next fundraising event for school will be a Film Night on Thursday 26th June. The evening will run from 5pm – 7.15pm and there will be hot dogs and refreshments on sale. More information about this event will be sent out to all families soon.

ABC Childcare

The Woodland School Open morning is being held at ABC next Wednesday. It promises to be a great experience for little ones with outdoor yoga and a Treasure Hunt just some of the highlights planned.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who have returned completed questionnaires
for ABC, which were distributed with last week's newsletter. Please do take this opportunity to let Lynsey know how ABC can accommodate your before and after school care requirements next year by completing these short forms and returning them to school as soon as you can.

Parent Forum

The final agenda for the meeting on Thursday 26th June will be sent out to all families at the beginning of next week. Thank you to everyone who has contributed thoughts and ideas. If you cannot attend the meeting, please send any thoughts or comments you would like to have included in the discussions into school by Monday 23rd June.

Mary's Meals

Thank you for all of your kind donations to this appeal. As a school we have managed to fill 38 complete backpacks which is a fantastic achievement.

Finally

I have experienced significant problems with my email system this week and emails to my address have not always been getting through.

I always endeavour to reply to emails promptly and would urge all parents to resend any messages either to myself and/or via Miss Cooper at: bursar@stjamesaudlem.cheshire.sch.uk
if you do not get a response within one or two days.
Thank you.
