On Monday the whole school took part in dance sessions with Pritchards Dance Academy. All the children and teachers learnt the moves to the Cha Cha.
We will be working more on these dances next half term and this will culminate in the whole school entering an inter school dance competition at Nantwich Civic Hall on 28th March. A wonderful event to look forward to!
We welcomed Key Stage 1 Parents and Grandparents to school to join their children for lunch on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see the children showing their relatives their lunchtime routines and despite the wet playtime, I saw lots of grownups enjoying games and sharing work in the classrooms after they had eaten their meals.
Thanks to Mrs Hayward for providing a wonderful menu and to Mrs Jones and all of the Mid Day Assistants who did a wonderful job organising everyone and clearing everything up.
Year 2 parents were treated to a showcase of super work in a special class assembly yesterday.
The children were wonderfully enthusiastic sharing some of their dinosaur work and thrilled their audience with dinosaur films they had made using our video cameras in school, dinosaur reports and a wonderful dinosaur dance. It was a delight to watch!
The Internet is a great resource for entertainment, research and keeping in touch with friends. We use it more and more in our daily lives, but it can also be a dangerous place if we don't think about the way we are using it.
Tuesday 11th February was 'Internet Safety Day' and in school we covered this important subject through a variety of different activities.
Children in classes across school covered a range of aspects including how we can use the Internet safely, the differences between online and offline friends, keeping our personal information private, the importance of age restrictions on websites and what to do if you have problems on the Internet.
Years 4, 5 and 6 also had a visit from PCSO Nick Jarvis, who discussed online friendships and what to do if you feel threatened. Some of the children produced posters which will be displayed around school as reminders about being safe when we use the Internet. Here's what some of the children feel they learnt from the day:
Mrs Heathcock and one of our Governors, Tony Dugdale, accompanied a group of Year 6 children to Malbank High School on Wednesday to take part in a writing workshop. They covered a variety of writing skills and techniques and were very proud of some of the stories they had written during the day!
It has been another week of football success for our school football team. Last Friday we were represented in the Crewe Alex Npower Cup finals. After some great football we came second in our group and were then beaten by the eventual winners in the semi-finals.
A fantastic achievement as the team managed to get into the last four of the competition which was entered by over sixty schools!
On Tuesday night our 5 aside team won two and drew one match in the Nantwich 5 aside finals. This resulted in our school becoming the champions of Nantwich in 5 a side football and they are now looking forward to the regional finals after half term. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
Last Friday, the winners of the first round of our Dragon's Den project went to Brine Leas High School to compete alongside winners in other schools. The children were mixed into teams with members from a range of local primary schools and had to compete to design, make and market a bag made from an old T- shirt.
The children had a fantastic time and were bubbling over with excitement on their return to school. Particularly Pip who was a very proud member of the overall winning team! Here are some of the children's thoughts about the experience:
An exciting project began to take shape on our field today. Over recent weeks, Mrs Heathcock's husband has been working with Mrs Heathcock and our School Council to design an outdoor space for learning and, following input from children across school, work on our 'Learning Shack' began today.
Mr Heathcock will be busy working on this over half term and we anticipate that this fabulous learning and seating area will be completed in time for our return to school after the half term break. I know the children cannot wait to see the final structure!
Many thanks to both Mr and Mrs Heathcock for all of their hard work and time that they have given to this project.
Great fun was had by all last night at the FASA Spring Disco. Once again, Chris and Ann Marshall did a wonderful job providing music and games for both EYFS/Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
It was a lovely way to celebrate the end of a busy half term and thanks must go to all of the FASA team who worked so hard organising and this event.
All the staff at ABC would like to wish the children a happy half term. They re-open on Tuesday 25th February for pre-preschool sessions, 9am -3pm. They also offer breakfast (8.00am – 8.45am) and after school (from end of school day to 6pm) care.
#Farewell
We said farewell to Mrs Burgess yesterday as she leaves for her maternity leave. I am sure you will join with me in wishing her all the very best with the final stages of her pregnancy and we all look forward to hearing about her baby news!
As we finish for half term, I would like to thank you all for your continued support. It has been wonderful to hear all of the positive feedback during this week's parent evenings about all of the wonderful things happening in school. I hope all of our families in school have a wonderful break and I look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 25th February.
