Record Breaking Attempt and a Feast Fit for Kings and Queens!
What an exciting week it has been in school! Children from every year group arrived for lunch on Wednesday wearing their party hats and looking like Kings and Queens of Audlem!
We had a wonderful Christmas lunch together with Christmas songs and all staff helping out with serving food and washing up duties.
I would like to thank all of the kitchen and Mid-Day staff for all of the hard work they put into this event. A special mention must go to Mrs Hayward, our wonderful school cook, who arrived at school at 7am to make sure all of the meat was ready for the lunch!
Guinness Book of World Records
On Thursday the children who had been part of our special Book Project with Sonia Kay last year all took part in a special book signing event in our school hall. We were joined by Sonia, PCSO Nick Jarvis, Rachel Bailey and several Governors and Parish members to try to break the Guinness World Record for the number of authors signing a book simultaneously.
The children were wonderfully enthusiastic and worked incredibly well together to make it the best attempt we could enter. We will all now wait to hear from the Guinness Book of World Records about the outcome of our attempt – I will keep you all updated!
A huge thank you to all of the people who came to support us in this special event, especially Sonia Kay, whose idea this was and who did a tremendous amount of work preparing and organising the event.
Christmas fairies
Miss Cooper and Mrs Geras were special Christmas fairies this week, organising a wonderful surprise for our children by arranging for a Christmas tree to be donated from Bridgmere Garden Centre and decorating it to be on display to greet the children when they arrived on
Monday. Thanks to them both and the staff at Bridgmere for their kind donation.
The children and staff in Amethyst class would like to thank Stacey Hodgkins for kindly donating a tin of chalkboard paint. This has been put to good use in our outdoor classroom. The children have had great fun practicing their writing skills on the shapes Mrs Spooner has painted onto the walls inside it.
Sporting Superstars!
Congratulations to our indoor athletics team who were joint winners at last week's heat. After some fantastic throwing, jumping and running, our school could not be seperated from another school so both teams will now progress to the Crewe and Nantwich finals in February.
This is a wonderful achievement and we are all very proud of you all. Many thanks to all of the staff and parents who have supported and helped the team to do so well.
FASA News
School has been a hive of activity preparing for our Christmas Fair yesterday. Members of FASA have been busy preparing tombola and raffle prizes as well as decorating our super grotto for Father Christmas to use!
A special mention to Mrs Goodwin, Mrs Southall Martin and their supporting creative team who spent a lot of time getting the grotto looking perfect.
Thank you also to all of the families who have sent in cakes, crackers and other donations for this event. Events such as these would not be possible without your generous contributions.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the FASA team for their continued hard work supporting our school. I am aware there have been a number of events this term and that all parents and children have worked hard to make a success of each of them. We are very lucky to have such a supportive and committed community. Thank you.
Welcome!
A new member of our Mid-Day Assistant team joined school this week. Mrs Jewell started her new role in school at lunchtime today. We look forward to working with her into the new year.
Website News
Our updated website went live this week, it can be found at www.audlemstjames.org.uk
John Gunstone and his team at ThenMedia have done a great job transferring
our previous site to their system and we are now in the process of adding further updates and information. I would love to hear from you about your thoughts and views on the site.
Finally
Well done to Ruby class who have been busy preparing some wonderful Christmas gifts and cards for yesterday evening's fair. They have made their wares as part of their Dragon's Den project in school and the class have chosen 'Smile Train', a charity that works with children with cleft palates, to donate all profits to from the sales they make on the evening.
