Abuy, the recently launched Buy/Sell or 'Free to a good home' service on Audlem Online, has been so successful that the webteam has upgraded the facility.

Items for sale on Abuy* so far cover an amazing range from a set of 1970s Subbuteo table football – snapped up in minutes – to a Land Rover Defender. And the good news is that they are all local and help ensure unwanted items are recycled responsibly.

There has been concern that the large number of 'For Sale' items was hiding the 'Wanted' and 'Free to a good home' items, which could only be found by clicking on numerous 'Next' pages. The new look gives equal prominence to all three categories.

Adding a photographThere have also been requests for photographs of items for sale as an option. This has now been introduced so you can add a photo of your prized Helios Stainless Hardened 180mm Cailiper Trammels or Multimeter HT500, if you wish. Apart from helping sellers to sell, the webteam, and doubtless others, are desperate to see what these mysterious items are!

Adding a photo is, however, entirely optional. You need to get the photo you would like to attach onto your local computer as a .jpeg, .png or .gif file. Then when you enter the item using the form on the left of the page, you can select the photograph using the "browse" facility at the bottom of the page. The size of image is limited to 1Mb. Remember that when you submit a photograph it will take a few seconds for it to upload to Audlem Online. If you already have an item on buy/sell to which you would like to add a photograph, you can delete the existing entry using the "remove" facility and then put it back on with the photograph attached.

Cancel your advertisement! If you do sell an item, or when you decide it has been on for long enough, please remember to cancel your advertisement using the password you selected when placing it. It will save you receiving unwanted enquiries and ensure the lists of items are kept to a reasonable length. Items will automatically disappear after four weeks although you are at perfect liberty to try again with a new advertisement.

Using the new Abuy*When you load the buy/sell page, you will see one of the current "for sale" items randomly selected for that day, and below that three headings for "items for sale", "wanted items" and "items free to a good home" – just click on one of these to see a full list of all items in that section. Then click on any of these to get the details and a photograph (if any) of that item.

*Not to be confused with our strangely named international competitor.
