MP Stephen O'Brien lodges objection to Gladman

Local MP Stephen O'Brien has lodged his formal objection to the controversial Gladman planning application.

The objection which appeared on the Cheshire East Council website yesterday was apparently sent by email from the Houses of Parliament and is dated July 23rd, just a day before the deadline for submitting comments.

The objection comes as the date of the committee hearing on the Gladman housing plan is moved to Wednesday, 11th September when it goes before the council's Strategic Planning Board.

The MP's objection says: "I write to put on record my formal objection to the Audlem Application 13/2224N at Audlem Road. A significant number of my constituents have objected to this application."

"This application is inappropriate, opportunistic, not to scale and not justified in terms of housing demand or provision. Furthermore, the infrastructure of the village is unable to
sustain such a large increase in the number of dwellings and their occupants."

"This application is entirely unsustainable and I support every one of my constituents' objections to this proposal."

The MP's comments now take the total number of objections to the Gladman proposals to 154. There are 191 planning documents registered on the Cheshire East Council website but 37 are documents and reports submitted by Gladman Developments to support its own application or comments from consultees on specific matters such as conservation and archaeology.

Gladman Developments is seeking outline planning permission for a proposed residential development of up to 120 dwellings, highway works, public open space and associated works on and west of Audlem Road.

According to the Cheshire East website the planning application will now go before the Strategic Planning Board meeting on Wednesday, 11th September and not the Southern Planning Committee on August 23rd as was first thought.
