It's the big event in Audlem this evening – the Midsummer Music on the Park.

As this is ASET's 10th annual musical picnic in the park, we've gone all out to make it the best ever – a night to remember with not one but two fantastic headline acts.

Returning after the success of last year's Midsummer Music, Audlem will welcome The WestEnders who will entertain us with a variety of songs from shows like Grease, Mama Mia, Oliver, Sound of Music, WestSide Story, Les Miserables and more. With new songs and favourites from last year, the WestEnders are sure to entertain.

The opening headline act this year has been described as "more than just the world's greatest swing band". They are King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys. The band have been on the road for two decades playing every European country as well as the USA and Russia and recording ten CDs.

Dazzling musicianship, riveting stage performances, more than 50 TV appearances and 75 radio broadcasts have established them as the Kings of Swing. Paul Jones of BBC Radio 2 said of the "Kings of Swing" – "the hardest act to follow since the parting of The Red Sea" so look out WestEnders, follow that!

One change to announce – unfortunately, local MP Stephen O'Brien is not able to join us – he has to leave for the Congo this afternoon on some important government business, (thereby bringing to life this week's headline about him in the Chronicle, 'From Audlem to Africa') – so Garth Bardsley will be opening the show as well as being our compere for the evening.

The show starts at 6.00pm but the gates are open for picnic set up at 3.00pm, then pedestrian access only from 4.00pm. Further details are on the ASET website – click on the link below the photo.
