ADAS EVENTS

During the Spring months the beautiful pansies, hyacinths and purple tulips have brightened the Village during these difficult times.
However, since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic in March, ADAS has had to cancel or reschedule all planned events for the spring and summer

After consultation with the Charity Commission the AGM was cancelled and existing officers and Committee Members will continue for the foreseeable future

The previous year had been very successful as ADAS had celebrated its 50th Anniversary in September.
Other events, including the Open Gardens, Big Switch On and Carol Singing, had been well attended and enjoyed by many.
Also, financially, ADAS had benefited thanks to subscriptions from local residents, two memorial donations, a Charity Quiz night and a Parish Council grant. This had resulted in ADAS being in a strong financial position.

Projects completed included: installation of raised flower beds and water butts outside the Charity shop, replacement of 9 flower tubs, new Christmas lights at the end of Windmill Drive and improved lighting for the Christmas events in the Buttermarket.

As the lockdown commenced in March ADAS was forced to cancel the summer Open Gardens and Floral event.
The plans for summer display planting had to be abandoned because our plug plant suppliers (Ball Colegrave) could not guarantee delivery. There would also have been problems with social distancing during planting sessions. However ADAS will be constantly assessing the situation and will endeavour to perform some summer planting.

Any planting would probably be limited to the centre of the Village.
The Committee have decided that this year's subscription envelope drop will not now take place – due to the lockdown, distribution and collection would have been a problem -- also we appreciate the fact that many households will be suffering financially at the moment.
Should you wish to contribute to ADAS funds there is a collecting tin in Williams Newsagents.
Also, you can donate online using the link here:
Please remember to donate with gift aid if you are eligible

Future plans for this year include: the renovation of the St James flowerbed and the installation of two benches adjacent to the Co-op which have been funded by the Cooperative Community fund.
It is hoped that the Big Switch On and Carol Singing will take place as usual later in the year.
Other future projects will be carried forward to 2021 -- these include: installing a raised flower bed outside the Methodist Church, flower tub replacements, wild flower planting in the Churchfields Conservation Area and sensory planting in the Village centre.

As always, thanks are due to the many volunteers who have helped with our projects -- if you would like to be involved with our projects please contact : adascontact@gmail.com

Finally, let's hope that the next few months will see an end to lockdown and that a sense of normality will return to Audlem!
In the meantime- stay healthy!
