This story from Pat Storey follows Ralph's memories of Nigel Hendley (click hereto see the first article)

Pat has given me permission to post this as part of the memories saga

I read with interest your report on your conversations with Nigel Hindley and thought I would provide one small addition to this.

My husband Tony and I purchased Gorsecroft Villa in 1974 and still at that time there was no indoor toilet in the property. The facilities were housed in a small brick building in the yard and every Thursday a man would come quietly onto the property with a bucket and empty the toilet!

This was quite fascinating to us as "townies" and it caused some consternation amongst our friends and family who visited from the big city. It was not as much fun for me personally as I was very pregnant at this stage!

Needless to say the priority was for Tony to install a septic tank and indoor plumbing which has been working successfully for the past 44 years.
