There's an important meeting in Chester tomorrow with the Western Cheshire Primary Care Trust to discuss, and hopefully settle, a number of issues affecting patients of the Audlem Medical Practice.

Two members of the Practice's Patient Panel, with Dr Russell Muirhead, are meeting the chief executive of WCPCT, Helen Bellairs, and the PCT's finance director, Iain Crossley.

Audlem has sent the PCT an agenda covering a range of funding issues and also wants to discuss potential problems involving local patients having to travel to WCPCT locations which are difficult to reach for those from the Audlem and district area, particularly by public transport.

Regular readers will recall a number of articles last year – 'Audlem in medical limbo' – following the full transfer of the Audlem Practice back to WCPCT after a number of years where local medical services were arranged through the more local Central & East Cheshire PCT and its Community Health wing.

Concerns have arisen in recent months and the Practice and its Patient Panel are anxious that these are resolved to the full satisfaction of local users of medical services as quickly as possible. Local MP, Stephen O'Brien, has asked to be kept fully informed about the outcome of the meeting.

More on this after tomorrow's meeting.
