Audlem Medical Practice Quarterly Update

Patient Participation Group

Our Patient Participation Group (PPG) met on May 2nd with Dr Verso in attendance. The PPG is a 2-way communication channel between the Practice and patients. We currently have 9 members. If you would like more information on the PPG please pick up a leaflet in the waiting room.
This article reflects the topics discussed at the meeting.

Veteran Friendly GP Practice

Our GP Practice is a veteran friendly Practice. If you or a family member has served in the military, please come forward to let us know. There may be specialist services that we can refer you to if we know you have been in the armed forces.
Richard Stephenson-Evans is the areas Community Liaison Officer and Armed Forces Lead. He can support veterans with DWP claims, housing, local contacts, and accessing NHS mental health specialist services under the umbrella of "Op Courage".

Pharmacy First

The Pharmacy First programme started in February. This is an NHS England initiative that means for certain conditions or problems you should contact the Pharmacy rather than the GP in the first instance. This is designed to free up GP time and help with the increased demand for GP services.

The Pharmacy First programme deals with 7 common conditions:

  • Urinary tract infections (Urine infections) in women aged 16-64 years
  • Shingles – over 18 years of age
  • Impetigo – 1 year and over
  • Infected insect bites – I year and over
  • Sore throat – 5 years and over
  • Sinusitis – 12 years and over
  • Acute Otitis Media (Earache) aged 1-17 years

For more information please see the Pharmacy page on our Nantwich and Rural Care Community website : https://nantwichandruralcarecommunity.org/pharmacies/

Lightwood Green Project

A Men In Sheds style project runs locally on Thursday afternoons with Andy Townsend, a retired teacher (and ukelele player!) Andy can be contacted by email on 1108lw5@gmail.com
It is looking for more men to join. They currently have about 3-4 and are looking for 8-10. Woodwork is the cover reason for attending with the emphasis very much being on a brew, chat and good company.

Transport is an issue, so we might look to involve the Wheely bus this summer especially as this would enable residents who live at the marina to go.

Upcoming dates in the diary:-

The Practice PPG will be at the Village Meeting on the evening of May 22nd in the Public Hall. If you would like to speak with a member of the group and find out more about what they do, please do come along.

On Tuesday, May 28th 2-4pm, there will be a Health Event in the Public Hall with multiple attendees including Citizen's Advice, Alzheimer's Society, Mentell Mental Health for Men, Healthwatch, SureCare and Home Instead Care Agencies, ANSA, Insights bereavement team, and more.

The Living Well bus will also be in the car park at the same time.

Michael, our Practice Social Prescriber, will be at both events.
