Last Friday, 4th September, Maureen Walley officially retired after working continuously for the chemists in Audlem for an amazing 53 years.
Our photo shows Maureen as a new recruit at the shop in 1962 when she started at the age of fifteen straight from school.
Maureen would like to say a very big " Thank You" to her colleagues in the shop and all her customers who have made working there so rewarding over the years and for the collection arranged for her.
When Maureen started in the shop it was run by Derek Smith. It was later taken over by John Wilkinson and finally by Boots.
AudlemOnline adds: It's remarkable by any standards, and highly unlikely to be seen again, where someone works in the same premises serving the community throughout their working life for 53 years. We wish Maureen a very happy and well deserved retirement.
