Users of Audlem's prize winning public toilets will be delighted to hear that all cubicle doors are now equipped with a hook – and a double one at that. More on this in the near future.

The process of installation has, however, produced a dramatic yet heart-warming tale that has, in the words of the key participant, "restored his faith in human nature."

Bill Consterdine installed the hooks using his Makita drill – it has been explained to AudlemOnline's editor, no expert in DIY, that this is a machine that also carries out the 'righty tighty, lefty lucy' process that describes so eloquently how screws work to the simple minded. It can also drill holes, it seems, and so was perfect for the job in hand.

Unfortunately, after successful completion of the drilling and screwing, the Makita thingy was left behind by Bill but discovered by a passing toilet-user from Macclesfield. He mentioned the discovery of the drill to Liz Haughey of Audlem Angels who look after the toilets.

Liz immediately put up a message on AudlemOnline and, almost by magic, this resulted in Bill travelling to Macclesfield where he was reunited with his valuable and much loved Makita drill. A reward was offered but refused by the finder.
