Lost card saviour

The following appeared yesterday on the Chatbox and deserves, we think, I wider audience: "Thank you to the kind lady who found a lost bank card on the playing field yesterday afternoon.

"Your thoughtfulness in handing the card into Williams' newsagents activated the village information superhighway so that our enquiry at the Co-op yesterday evening provided the welcome news that the card was in safe custody and could be retrieved this morning.

"So we avoided the unnecessary and disruptive call to the bank to cancel the card and the inevitable inconvenience of waiting for a new one and were happy to know that someone wasn't busy trying to use the card."
