Cheshire County Councillors are backing the plan to close Buerton Primary school, the Nantwich Guardian reports, and it seems that a formal notification of closure will be agreed at the next meeting of the county's school planning select panel on 4th April. If the full council accepts this, a date will be set for closure in the summer of 2007 although parents will be able to register objections in the next six weeks.
Local MP Stephen O'Brien visited the school a week ago to demonstrate his support for the school and said: "The loss of Buerton Primary would rip the heart out of the village. It is a valuable local asset and I will continue to support and campaign to save the school."
