Long-ARS walk on Saturday

This coming Saturday's Long-ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) sees Tony Crowther leading the walk and this is his description:

Meet Audlem on car park at 8.00am

A circular walk around Meifod of 12 miles.
A challenging 4 booter with an ascent of 2500ft approx.

Using Glyndwr's Way for the first half of the walk with well marked paths lanes and field paths.There are 4 ascents up to a max 290 metres.

From Meifod we climb over Broniarth Hill round Llyn Du on to Kennel Wood,Trefnant and into Figgy Wood haha with a steep ascent.Leaving GDW we return to Meifod via Maesmawr Hall Big forest Cefn Du and the final ascent to the radio mast at Moel y Sant Descend to Foal Wood haha Lower Hall Farm and back to Meifod along a flat river path.

The countryside is varied with several magnificent views in all directions.

In Meifod there is a shop pub and W Cs with a free car park just off the main A495. Some stretches are wet but the forecast is for a dry week.
