This Saturday's Long-ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk starts and ends at Meifod. There is a free car park with toilets.
A pleasant 14 mile amble over some Mid-Wales countryside with a large part of the walk following both sides of the River Vyrnwy.
Starting from Meifod we climb up and over to Pontrobert following the well marked Glyndwr's Way. From Pontrobert we continue to Dolanog on the same Way but following the river Vyrnwy on its South Bank.
At Dolanog Village, we cross over the river near to a large spectacular weir to follow the river back to Pontrobert – but now on the Ann Griffiths walk.
From Pontrobert we re-trace our steps to Meifod with the option of a slight detour over Gwely Gwyddfarch (Pillow Mound), before dropping back to our starting point in the village.
The walk consists of well marked paths, narrow lanes, tracks, open fields and forest tracks:
I look forward to seeing you all there.
All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry water (and snack if required) and be suitably fit for the walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not to be adequately equipped.
Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the £5 membership fee after a trial walk or two.
