The December Long ARS walk is a varied walk on canal tow paths, through woods and across fields. It is Just under 9 miles with 1200 feet of ascent, and a couple of steep but short climbs. Assuming the weather is fine we will have lovely views of the Sandstone Ridge and the Cheshire plain.
We meet at 8.30am (next Saturday, December 10th) on the main car park in Audlem, to drive to park at the Shady Oak at Beeston. Then we set out along the canal, skirt Beeston Castle, across woods and fields to Pennsylvania Wood, over the Peckforton Hills, across fields to Beeston, through Beeston Market and back along the canal.
This walk will be led by Jean Stainthorpe, and will get back to the village in good time to prepare for the ARS Christmas Dinner at the Lord C, when the fun really starts.
NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
