Saturday March 9th

Peter Kay, who will leading the long ARS walk on Saturday, writes:

A combination of forecast low temperatures, heavy rain and strong winds have led me to abandon Saturday's upland walk in the Dark Peak.

We are now going south in search of better weather. The walk will be in the Mortimer Forest just below Ludlow. It is about 10 miles with several climbs but none severe – a classic moderate 3 booter. There are good views of the surrounding countryside – fingers crossed!

Still meeting at 8.30am in Audlem car park.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
