Environmental group ADAPT is keen to promote Local Food and Local Business. Sourcing our food locally often helps the environment but also provides us with fresh, delicious produce.
You may be inspired to think about entering the Produce Show at the beginning of September.
ADAPT is also looking at the possibility of setting up a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project. As the Soil Association defines it: CSA is a partnership between farmers and consumers where the responsibilities and rewards of farming are shared.
Basically the idea behind CSA is for consumers to commit themselves to supporting the farm and providing a fair income to the growers.
In return for this commitment, not only will consumers receive a (good value!) weekly box of produce direct from the farm, there may also be opportunities (depending on which option is chosen) to be more involved with the actual growing of that food and have direct access to the land from where that food comes.
If you are interested in Community Supported Agriculture, come along to the Village Meeting on 23 March or contact Susan on 811092.
