Regular readers will recall that Joel Whittaker of Audlem Tree Care is taking on a very special challenge to raise money for the CPRE. the Campiagn to Protect Rural England.

Joel is to compete in an extraordinarily gruelling 136-mile run through the Libyan desert. He writes with an update:

"Training is going well and I pushed out a very wet 10 mile run today, probably the last bit of training I'll do prior to the event.

"I have trained hard over the last few months and have focussed on cross training which included sprint training, hill reps, cycling and long distance walking as well as lots of running mileage in an effort to avoid injuries from doing too much running and I feel confident I'll get around the 136 miles within the 75 hour time limit.

"The fund raising for the Campaign to Protect Rural England is going well despite competition from the Festive period and a global recession. This Tuesday's pub quiz at the Lord Combermere will also have Ralph Warburton highlighting the event and hopefully pulling in some much needed charity for this hugely important cause.

"I hope to have some photos to show of the Libyan Challenge in a week or two but for now I'll leave some links to the event and the charity I have chosen to represent.
