Learn how to save a life in three minutes with NWAS' new film

What would you do if you saw someone in cardiac arrest? Would you be able to help? How would you even know they were in cardiac arrest?

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) has today launched a film which could potentially save lives up and down the North West – and it takes less than three minutes to watch.

Let 'Agent Lifesaver' show you the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest, how to perform effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use a defibrillator to give the best chances of survival to someone in cardiac arrest.

The film will be debuted in a number of secondary schools across the region as part of Restart a Heart Day 2017. Volunteers from NWAS, St John Ambulance Service, regional fire services and other healthcare partners will aim to train at least 20,000 pupils in basic lifesaving skills on Friday 13 October and Monday 16 October as part of this nationwide initiative.

However, it's not just 11 to 16 year olds who need to know what to do in the event of a life threatening emergency. Currently less than one in ten people who suffer a cardiac arrest go on to make a recovery in the UK, but this figure could significantly increase if more people had the confidence to attempt CPR.

That's why the service is encouraging people of all ages to give the new film a watch. You never know – it might just save a life.
