Reverend Rob is cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats.

Director Rob Wykes of Christian Concern Crewe set off on the 1st June with bike Eileen to pedal the 970 miles from Land's End to John O' Groats to raise much needed funds.

Christian Concern is already well known to many of the residents of Audlem, Hankelow and Buerton, who are generous donors of furniture and bric-a-brac to the charity.

Rob will be cycling into Audlem from Market Drayton on the A529 on Tuesday 8th June, around 11.30am where he will be met by volunteers and staff from the Centre for refreshments at The Butter Market, outside St James' Church entrance.

Refreshments for the cyclists have been organised by St James' C of E, Audlem Methodist Church and Audlem Baptist Chapel. They will then leave the village via Nantwich Road and cycle the short distance with Rob to Crewe to see him on his way up the country.

After 25 years of useful service to the local community, it is time for the Hall at St Paul's, Crewe to be transformed from a single storey building into a two-storey community space, servicing community groups and young enterprises, creating an atmosphere of mutual business benefit and spirit.

The ambitious plan costing £60,000 will be taking place in three stages. Christian Concern is less than £10,000 short of stage one, the installation of the new floor. Their aim is to raise £6,000 from the cycle ride.

"It's the biggest physical challenge I have faced yet – but I'm up for it if more local people can benefit from an improved St Paul's Centre!" says Rob.

Please come and say hi to Rob before he leaves for the next stage of his journey. You can also follow Rob's progress and send him messages of encouragement to Crewe TV or follow his blog on www.christianconcerncrewe.org or you can sponsor him at www.justgiving.com/Rob-Wykes
