Kenneth Vernon "Ken" George

Ken George of Audlem sadly passed away on 27th August at Wrenbury Nursing Home, aged 97. His funeral will take place on Friday 10th September 2021 at 12.15pm at Crewe Crematorium and anyone who wishes to remember Ken is welcome to attend. All enquiries to Cynthia Murray, Oxley's Funeral Services, tel: 01270 812331.

Ken was a WW2 veteran and, though he was involved in the D-Day landings in June 1944, a very unassuming one when it came to talking about his role in the war. He received a number of honours for the service he gave to his country including, in recent years, the Légion d'Honneur.
Among his possessions was a very pertinent quote from Theodore Roosevelt: "For those of us who have known combat, life has a flavour that the protected will never know".

Any kind donations received in lieu of flowers will be given to the ADCA, where Ken greatly enjoyed being a member of the Tuesday Lunch Club in his later days. If you wish to donate in Ken's memory via online banking, you can make a direct payment to Audlem & District Community Action using sort code 08-92-99 and account number 65459706. Please put "Donation K George" as the reference.

Alternatively, please send a cheque to:
ADCA, Audlem Public Hall Annexe, Cheshire Street, Audlem, CW3 0AH
