The article title has not been suggested by Peter – it is an editorial whim that the current editor could not resist.
It is also a tribute to the tireless efforts that Peter has put in over the years to devising and leading walks of all levels of difficulty, as well as battling the entrenched lethargy of the authorities concerned (to be fair, Shropshire in this case rather than Cheshire) in this particular issue.
So now we have Audlem's own "Way" to set beside the Three Peaks in Yorkshire or the Coast-to-Coast and Pennine Ways.
The big advantage of ours is that you can be back in the pub for lunch.

Peter Kay writes

Nineteen years since the start of attempts to get two footpaths and a bridleway reopened after their illegal closure in the 1950's, the last pieces of the jigsaw have been put in place.

The access to the canal towpath at bridge 73 near Pool House from the footpath has been reopened and a splendid new gate fitted.

The bridleway linking the A529 to the Cheshire bridleway towards Wilkesley is now fully open.

There is a six mile circular route from Audlem which uses the old footpaths. The gpx file can be found here though other formats are available. Contact me on r.peter.k@gmail.com.
