My Christmas Visitor

I had a little friend visit me this Christmas
It never speaks. And it moves from place to place.
It came from nowhere- just seemed to appear
I speak to it often- even wished it a Happy New Year!

(I must try to get out more!!)

I can't feed it. It doesn't seem to eat
It has feelers, wings and little sticky feet
It uses its feet to cling to the wall
And is dark brown in colour and about 1 inch tall

Its wings , when opened are a beautiful sight
All the colours of the rainbow, bright, bright, bright
A lovely wonder to behold -
One I'll remember as I grow old

All God's creatures have a life span
And I know it can't last forever
But I'll enjoy my little visitor
While I can.

My beautiful Christmas butterfly.
