James Hamilton Hay – artist

James Hamilton Hay lived at Taintree House for a while in the early 1900's (see AoL article here)

The painting of Audlem Vale referred to is, according to the curator of the Williamson Art gallery, one of lots of paintings by JHH which are listed in exhibition catalogues but have never been identified. One of these was called 'Stream and meadow, Audlem', exhibited at Goupil 1917.

There will be a talk by David Brown about the life and works of JHH at the Williamson Art gallery, Birkenhead, at 11am on Saturday 1 October. It's to accompany the exhibition of his work to mark to centenary of his death.

The exhibition can be seen between 17 September and 16 October 2016.
