The annual highlight of the Tuesday quizzes at the Lord Combermere will be with us next week – the grand Charity Quiz night.
Every year end we have a Charity Quiz Night and over the years have raised goodly sums for many worthy causes.
Included in our efforts has been the Donna Louise Children's Hospice, Leukaemia research, and one very special cause – that of the Berni Cliffe "Mend Our Mum" campaign.
Over the 12 months I gather a surplus of funds which result in being able to lay on a superb Lord Combermere Buffet, free for all quizzers. On this night we have a raffle and a mini auction and this year we will be devoting all funds raised to the Audlem Youth Club. A great social night with most of my questions with a Christmas flavour . So swat up on carols and reindeer names!!!
The Youth Club was re-formed in Summer 2015 through the initial enthusiasm of Kate Parkes and Monique Hollinshead who then gathered a group of volunteers without whom the whole thing would be impossible..
The Youth Club got off to a cautious start, located in the Baptist Chapel through the good offices of Alan and Judy Paterson who have provided sterling support all along. Once successfully established, the Youth Club migrated to the bigger spaces provided by the Public Hall last April, in anticipation of the Annexe becoming available next September with its custom-built provision of Youth Club rooms.
The funds generated from the Charity Quiz night will be used to help provide the equipment and furniture needed in the new Annexe when it is built.
