United Utilities, as promised, have been at work outside the Methodist Church and the gushing water appears to have stopped. If so, many thanks also to the Shropshire Star who picked up the story from Audlem Online and then publicised the problem.

One long-distance reader of Audlem Online sent in a particularly intriguing message to the Guestbook this morning. It came from Gareth Jones, who is based in Moscow. He says:-"Moscow was due to turn on the heating to the City this week, but due to a shortage of water they've been unable to do so. A City spokeperson said they were trying to trace the source of a major water leak which has been draining the reservoir over a period of weeks!"

Thanks Gareth. While most of Britain's gas now comes from Russia (except Audlem's, of course, which comes from Calor), we didn't realise United Utilities were looking after Moscow's water supply and the Shropshire Street leak was having such a global impact!
