Alison O'Neill writes: "I have noticed over the Easter period an increase in boats on the canal, which is to be expected. Sadly I have also noticed a large amount of 'captains' who appear to have no idea how to steer their boats or how to preserve the waterways.
"Some are going top speed close to the banks sending wash over the footpaths and in to the fields, others are using their boats to ram the lock gates to push them open and I have recently seen two boats on separate occasions stuck across the canal, one end in the canal bank, the other stuck on the sidings.
"Is it not possible to ask the boating holiday people to give idiot guide instructions, as obviously some need it."
