The memorial tablet to Irene "Rene" Stockton was placed at the children's playground this week.
Rene died tragically in 2015. In her memory this tablet has been commissioned by Audlem Parish Council as a mark for the works she undertook as a Parish Councillor to ensure that we have the very fine children's play area as now exists.
Rene came to Audlem at the age of six. She attended school here and grew up as a true Audlem resident, taking part in the community in many ways and as a member of the Shroppie Fly Quiz team. She was on the council for fifteen years and also a member of the Audlem Burial Committee.
Rene's determination that Audlem should have this superb facility for children was dogged as she sought funding far and wide. Her family of Derek, Jeff, Steven, Richard and all wish to express their most grateful thanks to the Councillors -- especially Mike Hill and also his wife Pam and to Messrs Oxley's Funeral Services of Audlem -- in particular Cynthia Murray -- for this very fine gesture in the memory of Rene.
The tablet can be seen as you enter the play area to the right.
