We have now reached a critical point in the Annexe construction where it is necessary to remove the steps and ramp at the car park entrance while drains are dug and the new Hall entrance is constructed.
This means that the way into the Hall from the Car Park is currently unusable, so people attending events in the Hall will have to go round via the Cheshire Street entrance which involves a short flight of steps and inevitably means that there is no practical wheelchair access to the Hall.
The APHAx committee is working with the Contractors to try to minimise the disruption all this is going to cause, but the situation is likely to last for a number of weeks – we will try to make special arrangements for major social events and we will be talking to the Hall users concerned to discuss what can be done.
Meanwhile the APHAx Committee apologises for the inconvenience and difficulties arising from this work – we always knew that some disruption of this kind was bound to occur.
