Cookie

This Remembrance Sunday, as with previous Remembrance Sundays, Tabitha (now aged 14) rode her pony, Cookie, from Hatherton to The Square in front of Audlem Saint James Church, to pay tribute to all the animals of all kinds who served alongside their human counterparts during times of human conflict.

Cookie stood beautifully for the wreath laying ceremony and she proudly wore a beautiful hand made, crocheted, ceremonial rug provided by Murphy's Army, the purple poppy charity. Tabitha s Father laid a purple poppy wreath on the Cenotaph during the ceremony. After the congregation had departed, Cookie & Tabitha rode up to the church to greet Anne Draper who had led the service.

The purple poppy is a symbol of remembrance for service animals. Honouring the memory of all animals lost in conflicts past and present and recognising those who have served and continue to serve alongside our uniformed services.
We would like to thank those attendees who gave Cookie and Tabby a smile, a wave or came over to have a chat and give cookie a pat!
