Rita Tillin of the local RSPCA plans to provide a monthly feature for Audlem Online to help find suitable homes for animals.

RSPCA Crewe, Nantwich & District Branch carry out their work in and around Audlem. We are always seeking new homes for dogs and cats, who for no fault of their own find themselves in our care.

They are all ages and come in all shapes and sizes. Their common bond is in having had a tough start they are looking for a new life with loving families.

This special feature will highlight one of the creatures in our care in the hope that somewhere out there is someone who will give these lovely creatures a second chance, whose reward will be a friend for life.

SpikeThis month is dedicated to a very special little chap, probably known to a lot of Audlem residents. It is Spike, the much loved terrier owned by Mr. George Hunt who himself was often seen on his mobility scooter in the Butter Market or patiently waiting his turn outside the Salad Bowl to collect his bread and other goodies. He always had a ready smile and his presence around Audlem will be missed.

Unfortunately Mr Hunt will not be returning to Audlem as his health has deteriorated to the extent he is going into a Care Home and unfortunately he cannot take Spike with him. This has caused Mr Hunt a great deal of distress so we agreed to do our utmost to find Spike a loving caring home where he can see out his days.

Spike is not in his first flush of youth but at 12 years of age has many years ahead of him still. He is a playful lad who still enjoys his walks daily but most of all likes sleeping in front of a warm fire. If you feel you could take Spike into your home give Rita a call on 07775 881220.

All dogs rehomed by the RSPCA are vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered – we only charge £80 which is a small donation towards the costs involved.
We have other dogs available and many cats.
