The boats have arrived for Audlem's annual Gathering of Historic Boats this weekend, organised by Peter and Chris Silvester at Audlem Mill.

There are nearly 30 ex-working boats on the canal, stretching from the main road bridge down to the bottom of the locks. They were built between the 1880s and 1960 for several different operating companies- as their bright colour schemes show.

Do come along to the canal, and enjoy the show, which is completely free. The boat crews will be very pleased to tell you all about the boats and their history.

Moored by the wharf is the last remaining Shroppie fly-boat, built in 1906, after which the Shroppie Fly pub was named.

Many thanks
