Since development started at the Heathfield Road site, Audlem Parish Council has received calls from a number of residents to complain about several issues. These include the height of the properties, contractor parking, lorries blocking the roads and the amount of mud and debris left on roads and pavements at the end of each day. Complaints have also been received about the way the green space at the end of Hillary Drive is being churned up by heavy vehicles.

All of these complaints have been passed on to the Planning Enforcement Team at Cheshire East Council with an urgent request for them to send someone out to look into these issues.

Following checks, they determined that the heights of the new properties were correct. The Planning Enforcement Team has responded with a very unsatisfactory response, informing Councillors that this is a Highways and/or Police issue. The Parish Council is contacting both to try to get some resolution to this matter as swiftly as possible.

Ed: This has been the topic of a number of recent posts to our ChatBox, some of the comments are below. :

  • "Heathfield rd is a disgrace the junction with Hilary Drive is being destroyed by construction traffic.Mud is constantly being washed down the street and the footpath on Hilary Drive is collapsing with the traffic overtaking and mounting the kerbs. My front Drive is continually being used as an overtaking zone,The builder of the Village view development has no regard for the residence of Heathfield Road or Hilary Drive. Perhaps it is an attitude of it's not in my back yard."
  • "Based on the conversation that I had with the Site Manager on Tuesday this week there is little appetite for clearing up the mess that they are making, and even less for debating the issue with local residents....I think that we all expected disruption once the building work began, but there really is no excuse for the appalling condition that the roads and pavements are regularly left in by the developers and their suppliers!"
  • "It's difficult to think of anything to say about the state of Heathfield Rd and the delivery drivers total disregard for local residents without resorting to bad language"
