Happy New Year for Spike

Before Christmas, the RSPCA Crewe Nantwich & District Branch were seeking a new home for Mr George Hunt's little terrier Spike.

It is not always easy to find a home for an oldie, and Spike at 12 years of age certainly fitted into that category, so we at the RSPCA are delighted to be able to update you.

Thanks to a crowded café in Nantwich in which a resident of Audlem and an unknown retired couple from Crewe had to share a table, during general conversation Spike was mentioned and left the Crewe couple actively tracking Spike down.

On contacting the local branch of the RSPCA, a meeting with Spike took place, a home visit was carried out and Spike joined their family. As they already own a 20-year old Jack Russell, Spike is very much the youngster and, according to his new owners, he has fitted in like a part of the jigsaw and is settling nicely.

An added coincidence, and totally unknown to his new owners, one of their regular visitors is a member of George's family. Spike's new family are more than happy to allow him to visit Mr Hunt in his care home so, with luck, neither George nor Spike have to say a permanent goodbye just yet.

I love a happy ending!
