There is renewed momentum behind the Parish Plan's objectives for the under 18's of Audlem with the recent reformation of Audlem Action For Youth (AAFY).

The group originally came into being some 8 years ago with the single aim of raising funds and lobbying to create a skate park in the village. With the eventual demise of that scheme AAFY folded. Now, however, many of the original activists have come together, along with members of the Parish Plan Youth sub-committee and others in order to establish a new group. The new AAFY is best described as an umbrella body, made up of local youth groups, organisations and individuals, which actively supports and promotes projects and events for children and young people in Audlem.

Key aims for AAFY will be to work towards finding a dedicated space for the young people of the village and for there to be further upgrading and improvement of the play area. It is acknowledged that good progress has so far been made with the original Parish Plan wish list. A basketball net and youth shelter have been in place for some months and there have been improvements to the play area. In addition, a Youth Parish Council is in the offing.

AAFY members are Pete Marshall, Jane Marshall, Reuben Palin, Gill Lowe, Annemarie McGuiness, Ian Haughey, Liz Haughey, Jill Sanders and Kate Parkes. There will be an AAFY email address created soon but in lieu of that happening please direct any comments/enquiries to Pete Marshall on 811330 or Kate Parkes on 812880.

AAFY will be meeting quarterly and welcomes new members who are supportive of its aims.
