Today, we take a look at the music lined up for this Saturday – you can see the whole programme at www.audlemfestival.com (The website link that was here no longer works) for the Festival's website.

Saturday at the Festival gets off to an early start at 10.30am with Back Row & Forlorn Hope performing at the Scout Hall. It's a coffee morning with music, a harmonious start to your morning with close harmony, nostalgia and humour from Back Row and equally relaxing and varied folk music played on unusual instruments from John Hardy and Forlorn Hope.

In the afternoon, Blues Alley, Audlem's famous out-door venue, gets under way – hopefully with excellent weather so you can enjoy the music across the road sitting on the church steps and the grass. At 2.00pm it's the ever-popular Pete Price. Hailing from Warrington, Pete makes a welcome return to this year's Festival. An extremely talented Acoustic Guitar/Vocalist with a wealth of experience, he covers many different blues styles.

At 4.00pm, it's time for a trio of young bands to play at the Lord Combermere – The Strangers; then Fake Heroes followed by Crash Course. It's an afternoon of young talent featuring The Strangers, possibly Audlem's youngest band, but no strangers to performing or writing their own material; Fake Heroes with a great blend of crunching rock riffs and punk stylings; and Crash Course with a new female vocalist and catchy hooks and heart melting harmonies.

If you are thinking of staying in watching TV, remember what the main highlight tonight is – the Eurovision Song Contest! It's a night when you just have to get out to enjoy some real music! The evening in Audlem sees performances in all the pubs. Mike & Val Warner are playing at the Lord Combermere from 8.00pm. The two piece guitar duo bring their own versions of acoustic classics of today and yesterday to the festival. Acclaimed local vocalist Val Warner is joined by piano and double bass immediately after this gig for the JVC trio, a laid back jazz and acoustic blues band featuring the talents of John Gunstone on piano and Funk School's Dave Lilley on bass. Val performs well-known Gershwin tracks, a number of her own songs, and some slightly more unusual jazz arrangements of modern classics.

The music goes on at the Lord Combermere, with D&G, made up of Al Dean on guitar & vocals and John Gunstone on piano – they meander their way through a variety of styles that have influenced their musical careers to date, featuring a heady mix of Blues and Soul with a smattering of Jazz along the way.

The Boat Band is playing at the Bridge Inn from 7.00pm. After playing for many years, trawling the venues of Britain and beyond, The Boat Band have picked up a huge and varied catch of tunes: Creole, Caribbean, gospel, Cajun, Irish, Zydeco and Blues. If it can be played on accordion and fiddle (or trombone, washboard, trumpet, banjo etc), it's in the repertoire. It sounds like real fun!

At Hankelow's White Lion, Vavoom will deliver a high octane set of many styles and flavours from Elvis and other Rock & Roll greats through to the Stray Cats and Brian Setzer Orchestra – not forgetting a large chunk of themselves for good measure, Orleans and Dixieland jazz. They were recently voted the most entertaining band at the prestigious Enkhuizen Jazz Festival in Holland.

Back in Audlem, Bob on our Side, always a Festival favourite, is playing at the Shroppie Fly. Regular performers in Audlem, this six piece tribute band draws on its members' roots in Folk, Jazz and Blues.

And if you fancy some drama rather than music, The Nantwich Players are performing From here to the library and Mancunian Way in the Public Hall. It's just £5 to see this award winning theatre group. For details contact: 812125 / 537359 or pay on the door.

And don't forget, there's Art exhibitions throughout the village all weekend – see separate story.
