Readers will recall that it was in 2013 that the APHAx ( Audlem Public Hall Annexe Committee) committee started to develop the project for an Annexe to the Public Hall to be funded by a bid to the Big Lottery Fund. Three stages of bidding and three documents totalling well over 10,000 words later, the final consultation with the Lottery Fund took place on 18th January.
The funds needed to complete the Annexe are over £700,000 of which some £600,000 has been applied for to the Big Lottery Fund and £100,000 will be needed to be raised by the Commmittee
The raising of funds locally is proceeding well with £80,000 currently promised and further funds are to be raised at a celebration black tie dinner dance to be held on the 19th March.
The project has its origins in the Parish Plans of 2005 and 2010 which identified the need for better sport and recreational facilities, and the Annexe now offers:
The final consultation with the Big Lottery Fund which took place on the 18th January received positive comments about the Business Case and Capital Project Plan and the APHAx Committee is now looking forward to getting the final go ahead in early March 2016.
The plan for the detailed construction timetable can then go ahead and instructions to the architect ( Martin Greenwood of Bower Eddleston in Nantwich) can be given to issue a detailed tender of requirements to construction firms.
