More about Gladman development activity elsewhere from one of our more distant correspondents in North Yorkshire.

You included information on your website regarding Gladman and Methodist Homes for the Aged. I had a reply from MHA which may be of interest generally.

MHA have a partnership agreement with the retirement arm of Gladman (Adlington) to be the management and care provider for their retirement developments and MHA and Adlington have completed two developments together in accordance with MHA principles.

However they have no relationship with any other part of Gladman. Adlington had no
involvement with the development in Kirkbymoorside nor had MHA.

Gladman have been reminded by MHA that their name cannot be used without their
knowledge and agreement. No such agreement existed even though Gladman stated in their first application that MHA would be providing services to the care apartments Gladman sought to build in Kirkbymoorside.

Gladman have now submitted yet another application (the third); this time for more houses and no care apartments.

Our Local Plan had just been passed but Gladman have now asked for a Judicial Review of it which has put it again rather in limbo. According to an article in the Sunday Times this is not the only place where they are trying to challenge the local plan.

It has been revealed that Gladman wrote to Ryedale District Council and offered to withdraw their appeal to the planning inspector based on non-resolution of their first application if they were granted approval of the second one. Otherwise they would be seeking over £130,000 in costs should they win.

Approval was granted due to a bungled vote and two local residents have sought a judicial review of it.
