Yesterday on Audlem Online, we highlighted the photographs of winter scenes that are now displayed on the Winter Gallery. We also invited readers to send in photos.

Amongst those that arrived were these sporting shots taken on Holmes Bank, incidentally now the subject of a Chtabox debate about whether it is Holmes Bank or Rabbit Hill!

This year, Britain won its first Winter Olympics gold medal when Amy Williams won the skeleton event, a sledging event which requires incredible nerves of steel. Could these performers on Holmes Bank on Boxing Day be preparing for future Olympic fame?

The Chatbox comments about Holmes Bank reveal that nerves of steel were needed sledging in the days of when the old tennis courts had netting at the bottom of the hill.

Our thanks to David Parry for sending Audlem Online these photos taken by his brother-in-law Kevin Cheale.
