Paul Moran, organiser of the Audlem Festival, has reviewed last night's Fun-ky music night:- "Last night the Public Hall was again the venue for an excellent night of music as the hard working organisers of the youth-driven fun-ky Audlem weekend ensured a night of stunning young musical talent – missed it? Too bad!!

First on the bill was the talented Si Mellor on his vinyl and decks. Sadly, we missed most of his set but the storming response at the end made me think I had missed something really special.

Si was followed by the new south Cheshire Indi heroes – The Strangers – what a set from nowhere. This band has put together a self-pened set of incredible tracks that leave you just gasping for more – oh, and yes, for all you ageing musos that missed them, this lot are 10 years old and seriously rocking – beware, the future may not be blue!

The Strangers were followed by a set by the rising band Fallen From Orbit – a band with a growing reputation that on the night fell foul to the Public Hall acoustics – talented and with masses of potential but they let us get a beer because we want to be ready for The Dead Moon Society. Honestly, the best new indie band this man has seen for years – another stunning set of self-penned attitude that blew away the poor acoustics and gave us all a quick glimpse of what heaven might be like! An acoustic guitar surrounded by serious female attitude on lead guitar and bass and a driving male beat on drums left us all wantng more. This band must go on and develop into one of the main indie players in the music industry – and when they do, remember we saw them at Audlem – well we did, did you? Catch this band soon or regret it for a very long time.

After the surprise of The Dead Moon Society, and another beer, life was back to normal – The Defense -local heroes, my favourite Festival support band, the future of Audlem music – sorry, but no more. This band has outlived the village. Tonight, they've shown they are one of the tightest bands around and at last ready to move on to bigger things. Another sensational set, with Ed driving the band with a force few other drummers could muster – seeing is believing and I believe in this band. Tonight they proved we were right to put them on Festival main stages and I can see them headlining in their own right in the near future. Audlem be proud – they are yours – appriciate them whilst you can.

So what a night! Thank you to the organisers, who once again have put themselves on the line to ensure that Audlem is viewed as a young person friendly place, but most of all thank you to the 80+ young people who attended the evening event, who behaved impeccably, made us oldies feel welcome, and by their support for a village event sent a clear message to some of their elders. Thank You."
