There's a full day of music and art in Audlem today. It gets off to a morning start at the Coffee Lounge. From 11.30am, Mike Vaughan will be playing. Could there be a more enticing start to Sunday at the Festival than Audlem's very own virtuoso acoustic jazz guitarist playing while you enjoy your morning coffee. Sit back and absorb the music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, John McLaughlin and much more.

Probably Audlem's favourite musician – and there's plenty of competition – is playing in Blues Alley at 2.00pm. Jim Kirkpatrick is now much travelled. The superbly talented star of the area presents his wonderful acoustic music and songs for your pleasure in Audlem's now famous outdoor venue next to the Old Priest House. Great music and a chance to buy a splendid ice cream too!

You can opt for Classix with Alix in the Scout Hall at 2.00pm. Come and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with refreshments, listening to well known classics played by local musicians on a variety of instruments. A little later, at 3.00pm, The Defense are playing at the Lord Combermere. It's Audlem's very own punk band with reggae, ska and folk influences. These guys were as young as 14 when they supported The Climax Blues band here in Audlem. That was four years ago. Now they are mature, assured and as tight as ever.

They are followed at 4.30pm by Murphy's Marbles at the Lord Combermere. New to the festival, the Marbles are fast, charismatic, and have a fantastic live show. They bring an original and infectious style to the Celtic scene, they're song writers and recording artists in their own right – and excellent exponents of what entertainment is all about. When it comes to a performance of fine music, humour, with audience participation they are supreme.

Early evening at 6.30pm sees Audlem Voices performing at St James' Church. Formed in January of this year under the guidance and direction of Jenny Collis-Smith, this group of talented singers now numbers thirty from a wide circle of South Cheshire. They performed for the first time on Good Friday and now are here for the Festival – and your delectation.

The pubs have a great evening's entertainment lined up. The hugely popular and talented Funk School are at the Lord Combermere. Following last year's impressive performance, Carly B's awesome Funk School are back with another dangerously groovy chunk of funk. The band plays classic soul tracks by the likes of James Brown and Maceo Parker, along with some more recent funky disco. Not to be missed! It's then the Bill Bailey All Star Celebrity Jazz Band at the Lord Combermere – formed in 1996, the legendary six-piece jazz band is a must see at this year's festival. Playing traditional New Orleans and Dixieland jazz, they were recently voted the most entertaining band at the prestigious Enkhuizen Jazz Festival in Holland.

At Hankelow's White Lion – and isn't it great to see the pub open again, and getting excellent reviews for its food – Flight 505 are the band, a nervy bunch of ''Johnny come earlies'' making a 21st century sound that makes you want to dance sweat and sing, a state that only live music can create.

It's truly cool music at The Bridge Inn – and a great opportunity to see the wonderful new look at the pub – with Twin Frets on at 9.00pm. An exciting blend of Soul, Jazz, Reggae and Funk and not to be missed. Here's what's been said about them: "Sample the exciting playing of Willie Fluss, North West Guitar Maestro who originally hails from Italy and the cool, mellow, soulful guitar and vocals of Vernon Fuller."

Many Audlem music lovers will be heading to the Shroppie Fly to see Heavy Weather at 9.30pm. Local guitar legend Jim Kirkpatrick is joined by 'Climax Blues Band' bass player Neil Simpson, for a rock and blues night to remember. Just back from a recent tour with Whitesnake's Bernie Marsden, Heavy Weather really are a band on the up. This gig is not to be missed – what a way to round off a day of great music in Audlem. Don't we just love the Festival!
