It's May already and our gardens and outdoor plants are showing signs of slowing up as local rainfall seems to have recently evaporated. Let's hope we don't have the same drought as last year. Regular watering of Spring plants is so important. Critical for establishing strong roots, enabling rapid growth. Getting those newly planted plants to settle in their first year, Regular watering prevents stress and disease. Water early morning or late evening at the base of roots to avoid leaf fungii. Use mulch if you can to retain the moisture.
Those of us that have rainwater collection systems have an advantage.
This week on the market we have lots of seedlings and tomato plants, don't forget to water them in .
We have free range eggs , cakes and preserves, rhubarb, apple juice, there may be some frozen pork sausages from a local farm and newly made crab apple jelly. It's 10am till noon on the corner of the Lord C Car park. Come and take a look.
