With the arrival of the new-style Audlem Online, the webteam has decided to
start the new Forum section with an (almost) clean sheet. The website's old
Forum section was getting over-cluttered, often with discussions that were no longer topical, so these will be archived. We hope regular readers will understand this stance and continue to participate in the newly posted topics and future discussions.

In line with major websites like the BBC, we are adopting a system encouraging regular contributors to sign up as 'members' with their email address and a password to protect their privacy. This helps ensure that contributions to discussions really do come from the person named. Our old, uncontrolled system meant anybody could submit comments under any name they wanted. The new system allows people to operate under a nickname, their full name or, if they prefer, they can still send anonymous contributions.

To become a 'member', simply click on the Forum section, then on a discussion title. When 'Add Reply' shows on screen, click on it and new members can follow the 'Register' option. When that's completed, you will receive an email confirming your Forum Membership which you activate by responding to the email.

It sounds complicated but isn't in practice. We understand it's less free and easy than the old system but we are following the approach now used by most reputable websites. And even if you are a registered member, you can still send in 'Anon' comments, if you so wish.
