Flag On Church Tower

The Ragged flag atop the tower of St James.

This, the Union flag, is well past its sell by date and is very ragged. A few weeks ago whilst I was in Hospital, a suggestion was floated as to how we should try to sponsor a new flag for this very iconic and magnificent building in the village centre.

The object of a million tourist photos and of Christmas cards etc. Plus that wonderful day when we all gathered in our numbers to sing the song Amazing Grace with Bernie Cliff as part of our very special efforts for her and for her illness.

I have researched the sites of English makers of proper flags. Sewn and not printed as are our village display ones. The cost is around £150 all in and comes from the British company who supply all our armed forces etc. And have been doing so since 1837!

I include with this appeal a photo of the type of flag we are seeking to buy. I now ask if anyone would like to contribute to this Flag Appeal.
