Community Fitness Room in Public Hall Annexe

During the development of ideas of activities that could take place in the planned Annexe there was a very strong interest in providing fitness facilities that could be operated on a community basis locally.

Since then a lot of research has been carried out as to how this could work and contact made with a number of Gym operators to get their views and advice.

The APHAx committee itself does not have the time nor, to be honest, the expertise, to set up the Community Fitness room so that it is ready for use when the Annexe is opened.

So what is needed now is the creation of a sub-committee of a group of interested parties in the village to get together to start preparations for the Community Fitness Room when the Annexe has been built and is open for business, hopefully in Spring 2017.

In our successful Stage 2 bid for Big Lottery Funding for the Annexe, we included funds to cover the purchase of suitable equipment for the Fitness room. The equipment included so far includes

  • Cross Trainer
  • two Exercise Bikes
  • Treadmill
  • Rowing Machine
  • Exercise ball/mat.

We have made contact with Pete Bruty from Market Drayton has been very helpful both in terms of how it could be managed and the type of equipment we could provide.

So we now need to address such items as

  • Health and Safety
  • Insurance
  • Qualified supervision (Gym level 2)
  • Opening hours and Access
  • Membership scheme
  • Equipment required (It has been recommended we buy top quality refurbished equipment that is say 2 years old – Major Gyms change equipment after this time but experience shows this is excellent value and has many years' service left)

So, please, if you have interest in using the Communitty Fitness Room, let us know and we can convene a meeting of interested parties which could then carry to project forward.

For further information and/or to register an interest, please contact Roland Hall, Chairman APHAx 01270 812530, or email: rolandhall@bryantsbottom.plus.com
