It was a weekend to remember with seemingly thousands of smiling faces in Audlem as the huge crowds responded to the music, art, theatre, carnival and, yes, the sunshine.

With the national media reporting little but gloom in recent months, it's just a pity our leaders in London weren't in Audlem over the past few days. They would have learnt much.

They'd have been cheered by the sheer infectious enthusiasm of the twenty five ladies of Loud Mouthed Women singing Everything's gonna be alright. Because, eventually, it will be! They'd have learnt at the Embroidery Exhibition how much more rewarding it is to create something of lasting worth rather than simply stitching up your opponent.

At the 5As play they'd have seen how not to take yourself too seriously. And vitally, over the whole weekend, they'd have experienced how talented and enthusiastic volunteers can create a wonderful event, entertain thousands and boost our local businesses by bringing thousands of visitors to Audlem.

From the Audlem Webteam, a big thank you to the Festival team, the musicians and performers and all your helpers; to the Carnival team; and to our pubs, cafes and other venues, thanks for a weekend that was one of the best ever in Audlem.
